Venous Insufficiency

"Venous insufficiency is a condition that happens when the venous wall and or valves in the leg veins do not work effectively, which makes it difficult for blood to return to the heart from the legs. The condition presents with swelling in the lower legs and ankles, aching or tiredness in the legs, new varicose veins, leathery-looking skin on the legs, flaking or itching skin on the legs or feet, and venous stasis ulcers. Daily exercise, losing weight, elevating legs while sitting or laying down, avoiding long periods of standing or sitting, and antibiotics may help cure the condition.
