Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My father is a 57-year-old male. I am attaching my father's health reports from the year starting and the latest one. He was told with the previous report that he is at borderline for cholesterol, pre-diabetic, and thyroid problem. He was asked not to take any medicines and focus on diet and physical activity only. He has been following that. I see his thyroid levels and vitamin D levels are normal now. Could you please check both reports and suggest the next course of action?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the query.

I can understand your concern.

According to your statement, your father has recently done some investigations and has not shown any abnormalities in it, except the 25-hydroxyvitamin D level is below the normal. Avoid fatty and oily foods, which will help to maintain blood lipid levels.

For vitamin D deficiency, prolonged exposure to sunlight may help synthesize vitamin D in the skin. He can take Calcium plus Vitamin D supplements daily for improving vitamin D levels in the blood. For his thyroid, nothing should be done.

In case of any other query, ask me.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

Could you please tell me about cholesterol and diabetic complications? Those are also normal for now. When should we re-check it?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thanks for joining again.

As his cholesterol and blood sugar levels with HbA1c level are normal, I have emphasized vitamin D deficiency. Avoid fatty and oily foods with sugar and sugar mixed foods, and exercising may help control his blood lipid levels and blood sugar level.

Do repeat fasting lipid profile, FBS (fasting blood sugar), HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin), etc., after three months.

If any other query, knock me, and I will try to reply to you further.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
