Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My friend has vomiting in the morning, which gets worse after breakfast. If he does not eat for prolonged periods, he has a burning sensation in the chest and upper part of the stomach. He is losing weight and has reduced appetite. He has swelling in the mouth and gas in his stomach. I have attached his reports. Kindly have a look.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have thoroughly gone through your reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) and can understand your genuine health concerns.

The Probable causes

It is actually due to gastroesophageal reflux disease and increased acidity in the stomach. The stomach acid regurgitates upwards and irritates the mucosa of the esophagus, causing a burning sensation, excessive salivation, and early morning vomiting. So do not let him remain on an empty stomach for longer.

Investigations to be done

I suggest he undergoes a urea breath test and H. Pylori (Helicobactor pylori) serology. H. Pylori is the main infectious bacteria that causes the infection of the stomach and acidity. We have to diagnose and treat that. When you get the results, let me know. Upload the reports, and I will get back to you with the management guidelines accordingly.

Probable diagnosis

The probable diagnosis is GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease).

Treatment plan

I suggest he takes Dexilant (Dexlansoprazole), Levosulpiride, and Ondansetron. Consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent.

Preventive measures

Do not take spices, beverages, caffeinated drinks, and fried junk goods.

Regarding follow up

I suggest you follow up after you get the test reports.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
