Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My 60-year-old grandfather has been throwing up two to four times a day for almost a week now. It would come in episodes in between for about four months. This episode is worse. He seems to be burping and farting a lot currently. I have sent him to the clinics before, and they always said it was indigestion. They gave him medicine, but it did not work. He keeps on throwing up. He is taking indigestion pills. What is wrong with him?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I thoroughly read your query and understand your concern.

In old age, indigestion problem is common. Therefore, I would suggest him the following medications to be taken after getting the physician's consent:

1. For vomiting, Ondansetron MD 4 mg mouth dissolving tablet can be prescribed that is to be chewed.

2. Rabeprazole 20 mg once daily for one week also can be prescribed.

I also suggest investigating him with USG (ultrasonography) abdomen scan to rule out any organic cause if present.

You can provide reports if done to give more comments.

I hope this will help you.

Regards.
