Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

About a month ago, I slept with a kerosene heater running all night. When I woke up, my eyes were watery and swollen. The part above my eyes was sensitive. Everything on the left side of my face was sore. I could not feel anything on the right side. I have consulted five doctors, and they all say I have a sinus infection, but I know it is serious. Please suggest some medicines.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am sorry to hear about your suffering.

Your symptoms are most likely due to lacrimal drainage obstruction (small canaliculi at the lower inner part of the eye, which is responsible for the drainage of the tears), which cause pain and swelling in the eyes. The other possible cause is nasal mucosal swelling (polyps) obstructing the lacrimal drainage canaliculi. Please provide me with more details to reach the appropriate diagnosis:

  1. Do you have nasal fullness?
  2. Is the teary eye associated with a runny nose?

I suggest you undergo an ophthalmology assessment for dacrocystography.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
