Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 20 years old, and my weight is 46 kilograms. Are weight-gaining powders available in the market really helpful in increasing weight? And if any other products are available kindly suggest them.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The weight-gaining powder you mentioned is an ayurvedic supplement. The chief ingredients present in this preparation are ashwagandha and Shatavari. Research works have claimed that both of these are very much helpful in gaining weight. The product is available in granule form so that it can be easily absorbed by the body. As per the ingredients present, it will not show any side effects. You can use this product for up to a month and review it. If any unwanted change is observed in your body's working system within a week or two of its use, write back to us at the earliest so that we can go for an alternate option.

There are a number of ayurvedic products with the same ingredients in the market which produce similar results. All these products are expected to have clear quality assurance, and thus steroids or such ingredients are not expected.

The ideal method to gain healthy weight is to:

1) Start your day healthy with fruits (no tea or coffee). Include protein-rich foods such as fish, egg white, and sprouts in your diet.

2) Eat right and also go for exercise. If you only eat, you will not gain much protein. You will just pile up fat, and that is not good.

3) Eat and sleep consistently at the same time every day.

Join a fitness club or gym in your locality. Make sure the instructors are well-trained. Exercises should preferably be done in the morning. I would suggest you do a little bit of cardio for a warm-up and then go for strength training to build muscle. After you finish your workout, you should take a good protein supplement within 20 minutes.

If you would like to include an additional protein supplement, buy a box of whey protein powder. Also, include acidic fruits such as oranges and lemon in your diet for better protein absorption. Make sure you monitor the fat content in your body when you put on weight. Also, get a weighing scale and check your weight daily as a routine to keep track of your weight gain.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
