Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I started using compounded Semaglutide three months ago for weight loss, but instead of losing weight, I have gained about five pounds. My diet and exercise routine have not changed significantly, so I am confused about why this is happening.
Could the compounded version be less effective than the (Food and Drug Administration) FDA-approved one?
I also feel bloated and have mild swelling in my hands and feet. Could this be water retention caused by Semaglutide?
I have read that Semaglutide should suppress appetite, but I still feel hungry throughout the day. Should I get my dosage checked, or could this mean the medication is not working for me?
I would love your advice on what to do next.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
I understand your frustration with the unexpected weight gain and other symptoms. Compounded medications can sometimes have variations in their formulation, which might lead to inconsistent therapeutic outcomes. This could be a reason why you are not experiencing the expected weight loss and appetite suppression. Switching to a (Food and Drug Administration) FDA-approved formulation of Semaglutide might provide more reliable and predictable results.
The bloating and mild swelling in your hands and feet could indeed be signs of water retention, which can sometimes occur with Semaglutide. It is important to discuss these symptoms with your healthcare provider to determine the best course of action.
Given your ongoing hunger and lack of weight loss, it would be wise to have your dosage checked. Your healthcare provider can assess whether the current dosage is appropriate or if adjustments are needed. They can also evaluate whether the medication is working effectively for you or if an alternative treatment should be considered.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
