Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have thyroid and PCOD. I am using 75 mcg for thyroid since 3 months and prior to that it was 50 mcg and for PCOD, I am taking Metformin 500 mg everyday. But I do not seem to be reducing weight. Please help me reduce weight.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through the details submitted (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Your BMI is on the higher side. You have been on tablet Eltroxin 75 mcg (Thyroxine) for past 3 months. Kindly do a thyroid function test to check if levels are in normal range. Also, you are a known case of PCOD on tablet Metformin 500 mg twice a day. This can be increased to 850 mg twice a day if you tolerate well. I would suggest you regular physical activity like walking or cycling half an hour every day along with diet modifications. Please have more proteins like peas, lentils, chicken and fish which will help in weight reduction. You can reduce your carbohydrate intake as well by going for brown rice and millets. It would be good to have small frequent meals to help you in weight reduction.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
