Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 20-year-old male with white patches on my penis head and the inside of my foreskin. I have even developed pus-less and painless eruptions near the penis head end. Is it serious? Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your history is inadequate to make a diagnosis from here. However, white patches can indicate candida (fungal infection) of the penis. It happens due to poor hygiene in the pubic area or as a result of a sexually transmitted disease (STD). Herpes is a more common STD, with painful urination and genital sores. That does not seem to be the issue here. I suggest you apply Neosporin (Neomycin, Bacitracin, and Sulfacetamide) ointment on those white patches two to three times a day, preferably once in the morning after a bath. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medicines with their consent. Keep the area clean. Try to avoid sexual intercourse till it clears up because you can spread the infection to your partner. Also, if you have not got your blood work done recently, kindly check your RBS (random blood sugar) value. Because sugar patients are more prone to such infections. If it does not resolve in two to three days after application of the ointment, kindly consult your local general practitioner, who can see the lesion and make a decision. I hope this helps.

Thank you.
