Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had an infection around my wisdom tooth scheduled to be removed next week. Also, I noticed a white spot on my tongue near the infected tooth, which goes and comes back. Are they related? Kindly help.

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. The white spot on the tongue is not related to the wisdom tooth infection. The white spot could be due to trauma or lack of proper tongue cleaning. I suggest the following to reduce and prevent the recurrence of the white lesion of the tongue. Do warm saline rinses multiple times daily for one week. Use Chlorhexidine mouthwash twice a day for three months. Get yourself checked for vitamin D deficiency and anemia by a physician. Tablet SM Fibro (Zinc, Selenium, Copper, Beta carotene, Alpha lipoic acid, Vitamin E, and Lycopene) once daily after breakfast. If the lesion persists, do clarify with your dentist when you go for the extraction.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you for your reply, doctor.

Could this be due to cancer, or is it a precancerous lesion? Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The chances of this lesion (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity) being precancerous are very slight. But for confirmation, I suggest in-person consultation with a dentist for a physical examination.

Thank you.
