Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am having a lot of pain with an erupting wisdom tooth. The skin around the tooth is very sore and slightly yellow or white in color due to constant rubbing. I am happy to send a picture if that would help. I am wondering if you could suggest whether I need it removed or what I need to do.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I checked your attachment photos (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). It is a case of pericoronitis. The tooth is also rubbing against buccal mucosa or cheeks causing pain. I suggest you take a tablet of Ofloxacine 200 mg and Ornidazole 500 mg twice a day for five days. Use a Chlorohexidine 0.1 % mouthwash twice a day for 15 seconds for 15 days. Take a tablet of Diclofenac sodium 50 mg, paracetamol 500 mg. Keep good oral hygiene. If possible go to a nearby dentist and ask him for buccal relief. There is no need for extraction now. Anyway, it will resolve in five days by taking this medication. I hope you will feel healthy soon and there is absolutely no reason to extract it at this stage.

Thank you.
