What could be the reason for the bruising on the skin and the red spots in the mouth with slightly prolonged prothrombin time?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had unprotected sex on the third day of my period. But to be safe, I had contraceptive pills within 10 hours. My period cycle is of usually 28 to 30 days. I am worried because I did not get withdrawal bleeding till now. Last time I got bleeding on the fourth day, and my period got delayed. So I want to know the following:

1) Is there any chance of pregnancy?

2) Why is there no bleeding yet due to the contraceptive pill?

3) If there is no bleeding, my periods will be delayed, on time, or early. As last time due to bleeding, my period got delayed.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Do you have any hormonal imbalances? I suggest you take a beta hCG (human choriogonadotropin) blood pregnancy test to avoid the chances of being pregnant. Sometimes the body responds differently. You might have some irregularity in the cycle, but with time may recover. The other factors which can affect periods are illness, weakness, anxiety, stress, diet, strenuous exercise, hormonal imbalance, sudden weight gain or weight loss, medications, or the contraceptive pill. So keep o check for all this.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
