Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My partner and I had foreplay. It was the last day of her period. She was wearing a pad that covered the vagina completely. Firstly I do not think the precum can go through the pad and then to the vagina. Secondly, I cleaned all the precum spread very much above the pad. But for safety, she took an Unwanted 72 in 15 hours. Her withdrawal bleeding took place after five days, and it lasted only for two days, then her periods got delayed by ten days. She got her period today, the color of the bleeding was reddish-brown in the morning, and at the end of the day, it was brownish, and the intensity of bleeding was very less as compared to her regular period. She had slight cramps. I am afraid if it is implantation bleeding or menstrual bleeding?

Could you please guide us?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Let me assure you that by the description you gave, it is unlikely that she has conceived from that incident. You did not ejaculate inside, only had precum outside the pad; it was the last day of her period, and above that, she had an emergency contraceptive; all these facts combined, it is improbable that she has conceived. The abnormal period she is getting now is most probably due to the emergency contraceptive pill that she took, as it is a very common side effect of it. This should resolve spontaneously from the next cycle and should not be of concern. Just to be sure I, would highly suggest you to go for a UPT (urine pregnancy test) like Prega news, which is cheap, easily available, and convenient. This would also reduce your doubts and anxiety. Once you get it done, you can share the results with me for further discussion.

I hope this resolves your query. Feel free to contact me for further queries. I wish you and your partner good health.
