Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had my foot sole stabbed by wood recently and unfortunately, it got infected. Now every day I go to the hospital to change the dressing. The wound is just at the center of my right foot sole, please tell me how to reduce the pain when dressing change. The nurse uses the alcohol pad to wash the wound, bring me to tears every time. She only explains that the wound area is too sensitive. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. For infected wound, you have to do regular dressing and an anti-inflammatory drug can be prescribed for that. Ibuprofen like anti-inflammatory drug will be helpful in relieving inflammation. Infection involves inflammation component as well and because of the release of the inflammatory mediator also, so pain can be there. An antibiotic course also should be taken for the infected wound. When after few days wound get converted into healing wound pain will subside. Take care. Regards.
