Hello doctor,

What should I do if I think I have a yeast infection? I am leaving for a trip very soon and do not have time to visit a gynecologist. I have never had a yeast infection before but I am slightly swollen and itchy. I have had these two symptoms for a week now. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I fully understand your problem and will surely help you. The symptoms which you have described, it is likely that you are suffering from vaginal infection and as such you have self diagnosed it. Do you have some discharge also and is the discharge foul smelling? When was your last actual or proper period? How was the flow and for how many days? Are you on any contraception method? Please get a urine routine and examination done. For symptomatic relief, Candid CL (Clindamycin & Clotrimazole) vaginal pessary once at night time for six days, Surfaz SN (Clotrimazole, Beclomethasone propionate, and Neomycin sulfate) cream local application once daily for seven days, tablet Allegra (Fexofenadine HCl) 180 mg once at night for three days, vaginal wash for cleaning of private parts. Keep the area dry and wash your undergarments with mild soap only. Use barrier contraception (condoms) (if you are sexually active). If you do not get relieved with above mentioned treatment then you will require oral antibiotics and treatment of the partner too (in case you are sexually active).

I hope this helps.
