Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I accidentally swallowed Harpic (toilet cleaner) but immediately puked it. It did not go in my stomach. But my teeth are feeling rough even after brushing. What should I do? Will this roughness last for a long time? How should I treat it?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read through your query and the relevant details.

The Harpic cleaner contains various chemicals which are acidic and these when exposed to tooth surfaces would cause enamel roughness. That is the reason you have such a feeling in spite of brushing. I cannot guarantee that this roughness will fade away. But, the best home remedy is to do oil pulling twice daily with coconut or gingelly oil and avoiding any acidic food such as lemon or any citrus fruits or fizzy drinks. Apart from these, you could also visit your nearby dentist to get a professional polishing done. It is a special white powder used to polish teeth with a machine called pumice polishing.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
