Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had a red patch on my penis head for the past few weeks. There is mild itching, and the patch is not going even after applying corticosteroid ointment to the affected area.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. I went through the images (the attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). It seems you are suffering from Zoon’s balanitis. It is a benign non-cancerous lesion, which presents as an erythematous plaque on the penis, mostly seen in uncircumcised, middle-aged to old-aged men. There are many reasons why you could develop this. Chronic infection and poor hygiene are the most important causes. So, I suggest you follow certain instructions; undergo a circumcision procedure, apply Fucidin (Fusidic Acid) 2 % cream thrice daily for two weeks after circumcision. The circumcision will help remove the source of irritation and poor hygiene, and the cream will help resolve the symptoms over two to four weeks. Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
