Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have an inflammation on my penis tip and fore skin. It seems reddish and and I am experiencing some pain.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It is due to balanitis (zoon's balanitis) and it causes causes redness and inflammation on the glans and foreskin. It occurs due to improper hygiene, scratching, rubbing, allergic reaction to irritant soap, infective cause (fungal, bacterial, viral sexually transmitted infection), uncontrolled diabetes, injuries, and exposure to chemicals.

  1. Avoid scented soaps and lotions.
  2. Always clean the glans penis after retracting the foreskin and wash with warm water.
  3. Neutral non-soap cleansers can be used like no soap cleanser or Episoft cleanser or Cetaphil cleanser.
  4. Dry the area after cleaning.
  5. Practice good hygiene and safe sex.
  6. Apply Clotrimazole cream (candid cream) twice daily in the morning and night for two weeks.
  7. Get a urine routine or culture test done. Follow up with reports.
  8. Apply Fucidin cream (Butylhydroxyanisole, Cetyl alcohol and Potassium sorbate) at the daytime for seven days.
  9. Avoid scratching and rubbing of lesions.
  10. Wear loose comfortable thin cotton inners.
  11. Avoid injury or friction.

Regards.
