What are the genetic factors associated with heart failure?

Hello doctor,

Recently, my 75-year-old father passed away due to heart failure. Concerned about my own risk, I am curious if there is a chance of inheriting the same condition and if there are any medicines available for heart failure. Considering my family history, what is the likelihood of me inheriting heart failure and are there any preventive measures I can take? Can you explain the genetic factors with heart failure, and how they might affect me? What are the available medicines for treating heart failure, and how effective are they in managing the condition? Are there any lifestyle changes or habits that can reduce the risk of developing heart failure, given my family history? Kindly suggest.

Are body odor and bad breath an indication of a medical condition?

Hello doctor,

I have got a bit of an embarrassing question to ask. Lately, my wife has been mentioning that I seem to have some issues with body odor and bad breath. I am 41 and it is worrying me. I am not sure what is causing it or what I can do to fix it. I shower regularly and brush my teeth twice a day, but it does not seem to be helping much. I am wondering if there could be some underlying health issues causing this. Could it be related to something like my diet or maybe even a medical condition? I would appreciate some suggestions on how to tackle this problem and get things back to normal. It is starting to affect my confidence, and I do not want it to become a bigger issue. Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Is it necessary to use sunscreen in winter?

Hi doctor,

I know sunscreen is a summer essential, but is it necessary in winter, too? Can you explain how ultraviolet (UV) rays can affect the skin during colder months, and should I still be prioritizing sunscreen in my winter skincare routine? I want to make sure I am taking the right steps to protect my skin throughout the year.

Please help.

What are the chances of getting osteochondrodysplasia genetically?

Hi doctor,

My cousin was recently diagnosed with something called osteochondrodysplasia, some kind of bone disease. Now, I am thinking about starting a family, and I heard these things might run in the family. I am a bit fuzzy on the details, so I was wondering if you could shed some light. What are the chances of passing on this bone condition to my future child if it is in the family tree? And just so I am clued in, are there any signs or symptoms I should be on the lookout for? I really appreciate your time on this. Planning for a little one is exciting, but I want to make sure I have all the facts. If there is anything I can do on my end to keep things in check, I am all ears.

Kindly help.

How to manage thigh indentation post-weightlifting?

Hi doctor,

Today I worked out at the gym. It was my second time working out in about two to three years this week. As I was doing the dumbbell press, I picked up 50 pounds of dumbbells and placed them on my quad, sitting down. Quickly I lift them up using the momentum of moving my quad upward to help pick up the weights. It takes all but two seconds each time. However, when I got back home, I noticed an indentation on my upper left thigh, and I know that it was from exercise. This has never happened to me before, and I am curious if this is something that I should be worried about. Will it go away, and what is the time taken for healing? I am worried that this may affect circulation in my leg, and there is no pain.
