Can hormonal imbalances lead to menstrual irregularities?

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected sex because of condom breakage. I took an emergency contraceptive pill after an hour. After a week, there is severe period-like pain in the abdomen and legs, just like during periods. What are the chances of pregnancy? If withdrawal bleeding occurs, does this mean not pregnancy? If bleeding occurs, how do we distinguish between a period and withdrawal bleeding?

Please help.

Thank you.

Is polycystic ovary syndrome curable?

Hello doctor,

Over the past six months, I have been experiencing severe hair fall, acne, sudden weight gain, and irregular periods. I am a 28-year-old unmarried woman and consulted a gynecologist who advised an ultrasound scan. The results showed polycystic cysts in both ovaries. I am worried about the seriousness of this condition, whether it is curable, and if there are measures I can take to reduce any complications. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Is surgery necessary to conceive with intramural fibroids?

Hello doctor,

I am 35-year old female and do not have children. I have two intramural fibroids of 0.9 inch in size, putting pressure on the cavity. Doctor suggested laparoscopic myomectomy along with the removal of chocolate cysts on the ovary. I want a second opinion. Is surgery necessary? How long should I wait to conceive after surgery? Is reduction of the size of tumor necessary before surgery?

How to prevent pregnancy after a sexual intercourse?

Hello doctor,

I am going to have sex for the first time with my fiance. We have decided that he will be using a condom for protection. But to be 100 % sure about not getting pregnant, I want to take pills. We will be together for a week, so there are chances of having sex every day during that week. Which pill would work best and not affect my regular period and hormonal health? My period cycle has been almost accurate all these years, and I do not want to disturb it. We will be meeting after seven days from now. Please guide me. I had my last period seven days ago.
