Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a cesarean section two months ago which was my first delivery. I am now experiencing postpartum belly and would like to know how to reduce it and restore my abdomen to its normal size.

Thanks, and regards.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq family,

First of all, congratulations on becoming a new mom. I want to provide you with some guidance regarding your postpartum belly after undergoing a C-section. It is important to note that medical treatment is not advisable for the first six months, as breastfeeding takes priority during this period. Here are some instructions to follow that may help: Avoid protein supplements like powder supplements as they can contribute to weight gain during and after pregnancy. Avoid grapes and other fruits high in sugar. Limit your consumption of dates and other sugar-processed dry fruits. Enjoy bananas in moderation. Avoid bakery-related foods. Include grams like chickpeas and similar varieties in your regular meals. When consuming meat, whether it is lean or red, limit your intake of carbohydrates like rice and wheat products. Ensure you stay well-hydrated. Engage in 30 to 40 minutes of slow walking on a daily basis. Avoid eating at odd hour as you may need to wake up during the night to feed your baby. Instead, opt for simple fruits like sapodilla (Chikku), half an apple, or a guava if you feel hungry during those times.

Please follow these instructions until the six-month mark. It's important to note that you should refrain from exercising until the fifth month, so avoid any strenuous activities until then.

Thank you and take care.
