Dr. Aqeel Farooque

Professional Bio

Dr. Aqeel Farooque is a Consultant Pediatric Endocrinologist and Head of the Diabetes & Endocrinology Unit at Al Qassimi Women’s & Children’s Hospital, Sharjah — a tertiary referral center serving the Northern Emirates, UAE. With over 13 years’ experience as a consultant in the UK, Saudi Arabia, and UAE, he has extensive expertise in managing complex pediatric endocrine disorders, including diabetes, growth, puberty, and thyroid conditions. He has led innovative, patient-centered initiatives such as multidisciplinary insulin pump clinics, advanced CGM integration, and obesity management programs. An Adjunct Clinical Professor at the University of Sharjah, Dr. Farooque teaches medical students and postgraduate candidates in diabetes care. He is an active member of leading pediatric endocrinology societies (DPEC, EPEC, ASPED, BSPED, ESPE) and a regional advocate for improving access to diabetes technology. His work spans clinical care, research, education, and policy development. Fluent in English, Arabic, and Urdu, he is committed to serving children and families from diverse backgrounds.
