An abdominal aortic aneurysm is an enlargement in the wall of the lower part of the aorta. The aneurysm builds in the blood vessel wall due to increased blood pressure, and it may rupture the blood vessel in the bulged area. Aorta is a major artery, and the abdominal aortic aneurysm rupturing is life thretening. Constant abdominal pain, back pain, pulse in the belly button, etc., indicate the abdominal aortic aneurysm. Treatment includes medical monitoring or surgical placement of a graft over the weakened area to prevent rupture.
