Acanthamoeba keratitis is the infection of the eye caused by the amoeba called Acanthamoeba. This amoeba affects the outer layer of the eye, that is the cornea. This microorganism is found in water bodies, soil, and air. It causes eye pain, redness, blurred vision, light sensitivity, and excessive tearing.
