Addison's disease is a disorder in which the adrenal glands do not produce sufficient amounts of the hormone cortisol. Addison's disease is otherwise known as adrenal insufficiency. The signs and symptoms of Addison's disease include extreme fatigue, weight loss, hyperpigmentation, low blood sugar, and abdominal pain. Hormone replacement therapy is given to correct the levels of hormones the body is producing.
