Adjuvant therapy, also called augmentation therapy, is a therapy that is used in addition to the primary treatment for the effectiveness and fast recovery of the patient. Adjuvant therapy includes chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy, or biological therapy. Patients with primary stages of cancer, mental health disorders, or with accidental trauma might require adjuvant therapy.
