Medical Conditions - Antiplatelet Therapy

Antiplatelet therapy reduces the clot-forming capacity of the blood by preventing clubbing of the blood cells by platelets. In normal mechanism, platelets help in clot formation at the site of injury. Inflammation or plaque deposition in the blood vessels cause platelets to form blood clot within the blood vessels. This therapy is done to prevent clot formation within the blood vessels in patients with coronary heart disease, heart attack, angina, stroke, etc.
