A benign esophageal tumor is a development in the esophagus, the muscular tube that connects the stomach and throat, that is not malignant. Most of the time, these tumors are non-invasive and do not spread to other bodily areas. Fibromas and leiomyomas are common varieties. Despite being benign, they can nevertheless cause symptoms like dysphagia or chest pain, and they might need to be surgically removed or closely watched.
