Medical Conditions - Birth Defects

A birth defect is otherwise known as a congenital disorder. It is a condition that is present at birth without probable cause. Birth defects are usually caused due to chromosomal abnormalities (genetic), increased fetus's exposure to medicines, and infections. Heart defects, cleft lip, Down syndrome, and spina bifida are the common birth defects seen in newborns. Amniocentesis can help detect birth defects during pregnancy.
