Bone marrow transplantation is done to replace bone marrow that has been damaged by infection, disease, or chemotherapy. Conditions that may require bone marrow transplantation are aplastic anemia, leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, congenital neutropenia, sickle cell anemia, and thalassemia.
PNH (Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria) and Bone Marrow Transplantation
Though bone marrow transplantation is the only cure for PNH, it is not a recommended initial therapy due to the increased morbidity and mortality risk.
