Bone metastasis happens when the tumor cells metastasize and spread to the bone from their original site. Any cancer can result in bone metastasis. It usually occurs in all bones but is generally seen in the spine, thighs, and pelvis. It is an important marker for cancer diagnosis. In addition, it may occur few years after cancer treatment. Symptoms include pain in the bones, fractured bones, urinary and bowel incontinence, hypercalcemia, and fatigue in the hands and feet.
