Brain tuberculosis is otherwise known as tuberculous meningitis (TBM). It is the inflammation of the meninges (membranes) around the brain or spinal cord caused by a bacterium known as Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The treatment for brain tuberculosis includes the same medications that are used to treat tuberculosis except for Ethambutol, as it does not penetrate well through the lining of the brain.
