The breath-holding spell is when the baby holds his breath back while in a situation like anger, fear, or pain. A prolonged situation like that can turn the child blue or pale. It can be quite unpleasant and stressful for parents to watch this, but it lasts a minute longer and is usually not harmful. Eventually, the child outgrows this situation and does not need any treatment for it.
