Medical Conditions - Bursitis

Bursitis is the inflammation of the bursae, which are tiny sacs filled with fluid that has a cushioning effect on the bones, muscles, and tendons. Elbow, shoulder, and hip are the most common sites of bursitis and are seen in joints involved in repetitive motions. Pain on movement, stiffness, redness, or swelling are the manifestations of bursitis. Medications, physical therapy, corticosteroid injections, surgical removal, and the use of assistive devices like walking stick help in the treatment of bursitis.
