Cervical dysplasia is a condition in which abnormal cells grow on the surface lining of the cervix or endocervical canal (the opening between the uterus and the vagina). Cervical dysplasia can occur at any age but is more common under 30. It usually causes no symptoms and is most often diagnosed by a pap test. While mild cases of cervical dysplasia resolve without treatment, moderate to severe cervical dysplasia usually requires treatment to remove the abnormal cells and reduce the risk of cervical cancer.
