Otherwise called combined oral contraceptive pill, COCP is a type of birth control pill designed to take orally by women. It contains a combination of estrogen and progestogen and prevents ovulation in women. These hormones thicken the mucus and make it harder for sperm to penetrate inside the uterus to reach an egg, thus preventing pregnancy. It also thins the lining of the uterus and causes difficulty in the implantation of a fertilized egg.
