Medical Conditions - Colchicine

Colchicine medicine is used to prevent and treat gout attacks. The gout attacks, also called flares, are caused by a high level of uric acid in the blood. Hence colchicine works by reducing the level of uric acid and avoiding the build-up of hard crystals around the joints. This medicine is generally taken orally with or without food, and the dosage will be decided by the doctor specifically based on the requirement. It is advised to avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice while taking this medication as it can aggravate the medicine and tamper with the desired output.
