The disease of the structures connecting the body is known as connective tissue disease. In connective tissue disease, the body parts they connect are harmed, and the protein components (collagen and elastin) are inflamed. Connective tissue diseases can be of autoimmune origin, hereditary, environmental factors (UV radiation, toxic chemicals, and nutritional deficiency), or unknown causes. It includes scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis, Churg-Strauss syndrome, polymyositis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), microscopic polyangiitis, Wegener's granulomatosis, mixed and undifferentiated connective tissue diseases.
