Cryptorchidism means a condition in which the testis is not in its usual descended position and is placed more superiorly before birth. It rarely occurs in premature babies and may involve one or both testis: however bilateral involvement is even more rare. It can cause several complications like testicular cancer, testicular torsion, infertility, inguinal hernia, and trauma to the testis.
