Medical Conditions - Cryptosporidiosis

Cryptosporidiosis is an intestinal infection caused by the parasite Cryptosporidium. This parasite spreads through contaminated water and sometimes food, leading to outbreaks in areas with poor sanitation. Severe, watery diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, and fever are the clinical manifestations. While cryptosporidiosis is often self-limiting in healthy individuals, it can be severe and prolonged in people with weakened immune systems, such as those with HIV/AIDS. Treatment focuses on rehydration and, in some cases, antiparasitic medications.
