Medical Conditions - Dentinogenesis Imperfecta

A genetic condition called dentinogenesis imperfecta affects how the dentin, the tissue that lies beneath the tooth's enamel, develops. This disorder makes teeth transparent and discolored (usually blue-gray or yellow-brown), making them more vulnerable to decay, wear, and breakage. Dentinogenesis imperfecta comes in three different forms (Types I, II, and III), each with a range of severity and a correlation to other hereditary disorders like osteogenesis imperfecta. In order to preserve dental function and look, treatment focuses on safeguarding the teeth. Crowns, dental bonding, or, in extreme situations, dentures or implants are frequently used.
