Medical Conditions - Emphysema

Long-term lung exposure to air pollution, smoking, secondhand smoke, dust, chemical fumes, smoke, etc., are the causative factors of emphysema. In emphysema, the lining between the air sacs gets damaged, and air pockets form. The tiny numerous air sacs get converted to large sacs reduced in number. It becomes difficult for the lungs to transfer oxygen and carbon dioxide from outside to the body and vice versa. Symptoms include chest tightness, shortness of breath, wheeze, cough, weight loss, fatigue, etc.
