Endocarditis is an inflammation affecting the inner lining of heart chambers and valves caused due to bacterial infection or fungal infection. Bacteria, fungus, or other germs affecting other parts of the body can spread through the bloodstream and get attached to the damaged surface of the heart. The common symptoms are night sweats, shortness of breath, fatigue, chest pain while breathing, swelling in the feet, and fever. It is treated by taking medications, and sometimes, surgery is required.
