Excisional biopsy is also called a wide local incision. In this procedure, the entire tumor is removed with some normal tissues around it. It is commonly done in the cases of melanoma. The infected area is anesthetized to remove the affected tissue along with the normal tissue. It is done by a surgeon, and it takes an hour to do it.
