False pregnancy, another name pseudocyesis, is a rare condition in which a person experiences many of the symptoms of pregnancy, such as weight gain, missed periods, and even fetal movement, despite not being pregnant. The exact causes of false pregnancy are not well understood, but it is thought to be related to psychological factors such as anxiety or stress. Treatment for false pregnancy may involve counseling or other forms of mental health support.
