Medical Conditions - Fistula Surgery

An unusual connection between two body parts is called a fistula, which can be treated with antibiotics if minor in rare cases, or surgical intervention is required. Surgical correction for fistula involves fistulotomy and seton surgery. Fistulotomy is characterized by opening up of the fistula, thereby allowing it to heal. In seton surgery, a thin surgical thread is placed inside the fistula to drain the infection and aid in healing.
