A flat foot is a condition in which the arches on the inside of the foot are flattened, which makes the complete sole of the feet touch the ground. The condition occurs due to developmental defects during childhood. However, a flat foot is a common condition that is generally painless and potentially harmless. In rare cases, due to altered alignment of the legs, the condition may cause some problems in the ankles and knees. However, the condition generally does not require any treatment.
