Fluoride toothpaste holds an increased amount of fluoride, which is a naturally present mineral. It has anti-carious properties and thereby prevents dental caries, increases the enamel strength, reverts initial tooth decay, inhibits oral microbes, and limits mineral loss. Though fluoride toothpaste is safe for both children and adults, it should be used in recommended amounts to prevent fluorosis.
