Medical Conditions - Foley Catheter

Foley's catheter, a type of indwelling catheter, is thin, hollow, partially flexible, and a sterile tube is placed in the urinary bladder through which urine is collected into the collecting bag. The urine collecting bag has a valve that has to be kept open for the urine to flow into the bag. It is usually inserted in two different ways, one in the urethra and another into the bladder through a tiny hole in the abdomen. An inflated balloon at one end of the catheter prevents the catheter from slipping.
