Surgical removal of the frenulum is a tiny tissue fold essential to prevent an organ from moving too far. Genital frenectomies, also known as circumcision and are done in infants. Lingual frenectomy is carried out in persons with tongue-tie and ankyloglossia, limiting the tongue's movement, thereby interfering with breastfeeding and speech development. A maxillary frenectomy is advised in cases with lip adhesion. It can be done by traditional surgical method or through laser therapy.
